Hey man. I built the PAC 5 and I'm having great results. My intentions for it are to shoot t-shirts at the Clemson football games. If you watch ESPN, you might see me on there sometime. We named it CUPAC. Clemson University Pneumatic Air Cannon. I'm having some leakage problems however around the 2x4" reducer at the front of the gun and from the chamber assy. I used galvanized steel instead of PVC for the air assembly, since the PVC blew at about 55 PSI. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix those leaks? I would appreciate your advice. thanks. also how can I seal the 4" threads on the male/female adapters so I can EASILY remove the chamber assembly? thanks for your time.

Andy, Here the photos I promised. These photos are of a smaller prototype built to do more valve testing on. It is only 29 inches long. The rear pipe plug was replaced with another with an airgun from an autoparts store screwed on the back. The valve in the photos took over 30 lbs of force to operate due to the large size of the valve seat. The cannon that put the gumballs through the plywood is of the same design only 4 ft long. The short cannon doesn't quite put the gumballs through the plywood.  The little one was built attempting a compact size and economy of the air use. I filled the air chamber full of water to hydrostatic test it. All of the water will fit into a 32 oz drink cup. It doesn't use much air. For portability I use a hand pump to fill it. The photo labeled mouse, is of an electricians mouse that was shot into the sky. The mouse is out of sight. All that is visible is the string. If you want a description of any of the photos, write for info. Most of the photos are self explanatory. I am also including a photo of the full size cannon. I still have valve work to complete on it. It will need a tripod as I calculated the recoil force at about 490 lbs. with a 100 PSI charge.

Enjoy,  Randy

I recently asked you about your PAC 3, and I told you about a potato launcher my friend and I are making.  I am sending you a photo of the PAC 3 I made a few months ago.  The launcher I had previously spoken about is giving us some troubles in finding parts.  We need some sort of larger solenoid valve but are not able to find one.  Anyway, here is the picture of mine, maybe we will build a new spud launcher, maybe we will use another one we already made.  We are entering it in a science fair.  We hope that someone doesn't turn us in, because under the law, shooting anything other than potatoes or other food, is illegal.

Andy,

I've had my present Potato Cannon for a few years now, but this is the first time I've offered a picture on the web.

I am attaching a picture of my cannon; the 'BMFG 1693'.  It stands for Big Gun with a 1693 cubic inch combustion chamber.  After several generations and lots of innovations, I feel I have reached the maximum potential of a combustion Potato Cannon.

Some highlights of the BMFG 1693:
-8" diameter by 6' schedule 40 chamber
-2 igniters
-special igniter configuration to eliminate fouling
-2" by 10' breach loading barrel
-2 1/2" by 10' barrel for tennis balls
-special application to the barrel to build extra pressure in the chamber before releasing the spud
-propellant: a mix of MAPP gas and Lysol
-builds 35 to 60+psi
-hashbrowns for everybody!!

As you know, it is often difficult to establish and accurate range.  The BMFG is in the neighborhood of 1/4 mile.  I plan to convert the tennis ball barrel for 2 1/2" potatos, and believe this will increase the distance.  When I do a ranging test, my friend and I need to call each other on cell phones to coordinate the launch and return.

I have plans for a breach loading 1500ci PAC that I believe will reach 1 mile.  As soon I as I have some time, I will build it.

I hope you like her,

Rad

Hey there Andy.

This is my X-Mas pressie!!

Its air chamber is approx 1.2 metres long…

It is just awesome, it can shoot further then a rugby field and probably more!!

This is also my very first air cannon that is of its size, I made your pac 1 and found that was great… for about 3 days :p

So I decided to make something that will impress my friends and family! And yeh.. :D

The next cannon im planning to build will be combustion and im gonna compare the two…

Peace out

-hayden

Hi,

I been to your site over and over and decided to make a P.A.C. It's pretty good considering i made a bipod, extra barrel and silencer for $65 A.U. It is a bit small but still packs a punch. I have used a sprinkler soleniod on the top of the P.A.C instead the bottom like the P.A.C 3. This means detachable barrels of any size. I have a big barrel but it wouldn't fit in the camera lens. It shoots a cork over 400 metres at 100 psi. Thanks for all your designs and help and my next project will be a mini semi-auto. here are the pictures.
